Manchester United have entered the race with Chelsea to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, according to reports.

The Daily Express claim that United are keeping tabs on the Chilean’s contract situation and are prepared to make their move if Arsenal decide to cash in on their leading goalscorer, who will have only one year left on his contract this summer.

United will face strong competition for the 28-year-old, with Chelsea, Manchester City, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid all in the running.

United have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Jose Mourinho’s priority target Antoine Griezmann after the France international gave no indication that he wanted to leave Atletico Madrid in an interview on Friday.

Sanchez, meanwhile, has reportedly demanded a non-negotiable contract worth £250,000 a week from Arsenal after receiving a large offer from one of their main rivals.

The forward is widely expected to leave Arsenal at the end of the season after showing numerous signs of discontent in recent weeks.

A bust-up with team-mates after the 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in Germany was followed up by another altercation in training before the 3-1 loss to Liverpool last Saturday.

Sanchez was dropped by Arsene Wenger for storming out of the session after receiving a heavy challenge from a team-mate.

The Chilean was also caught laughing on the substitutes’ bench during the latter stages of Arsenal’s 5-1 defeat at home to Bayern on Tuesday.
